Occupational Therapist

"Referring a monitored alarm for my clients is so important, as it takes the pressure off their family to drop everything in an emergency situation.

The Hub fits so well into my clients' homes. Having the flexibility to mount on a wall, or place on a flat surface means it is suitable for all homes, irrespective of size."

Alice A.

Occupational Therapist

"The monthly cost is more reasonable than other options out there, and it’s great to know there’s strong support for setup, installation, and any issues that might come up.

Overall, I’m very impressed with the alarm and would definitely consider it if I were choosing a monitored alarm."

Lauren J.

Occupational Therapist

"Setup and instructions were very simple and easy to follow. The testing process was straightforward, and the Umps team was incredibly responsive.

Our OT was even able to complete the testing on the day of the visit without any prior notice—thank you for making that possible!"

Emma T.

Occupational Therapist

"When I order Umps, the process is straightforward, and it arrives in a timely fashion. The Umps team is very helpful, responsive, and answers all my questions.

Overall, I wouldn’t hesitate to use Umps again."

Frequently Asked Questions

We’ve answered the most commonly asked questions here.

How far away will the Umps Pendant work from the Hub?

The Umps Link Pendant will work at a range of more than 100 metres from the Hub, comfortably covering most large houses. When the Umps Link is set up, the Pendant range can be tested.

Does the Pendant need to be charged?

No. The Umps Link Pendant will operate for over two years without charging. We'll get in touch with the client when their Pendant needs to be replaced.

What happens when my client activates their Personal Alarm?

When activated, the Umps Link Hub connects to our 24/7 Australian-based monitoring centre. A real person will speak with your client and provide any necessary support, whether it’s connecting them with a loved one or, in the case of an emergency, dispatching an ambulance.

Can I use a personal alarm with a pacemaker or implantable cardiac defibrillators?

Yes, you can use a personal alarm with a pacemaker; however, it's important to follow guidelines from both Umps and your pacemaker manufacturer. For more information, read our detailed review on considerations when using a personal alarm with a pacemaker.

Does the Umps Link Pendant detect falls?

No. Research shows that even the best falls detection features can be unreliable, often activating when a person hasn't had a fall. Instead, we've made our Pendant lightweight, completely waterproof, and with over two years battery life.

Can my client wear their Pendant in the shower?

Yes. The Umps Link Pendant is completely waterproof with a quick-dry lanyard. We encourage users to wear it in the shower for additional safety.

What happens if my client accidentally activates their personal alarm?

The Umps Link Pendant has been designed to avoid accidental activations. However, if a client does accidentally trigger their personal alarm, they can cancel the alert within 10 seconds. Alternatively, they can just let one of our friendly operators know it was unintentional.

Can two people in one home use the Umps Link?

Yes. Several Umps Link Pendants can be paired to one Hub, allowing multiple people to use the same Umps Link simultaneously.

What happens in a power outage?

In a power outage, the Umps Link will continue to operate for over 50 hours. The monitoring centre will receive a notification that power has been lost, and will monitor the Hub. The  Umps Link should be reconnected to power within 40 hours to maintain connectivity.

Does my client need internet?

No, the Umps Link Personal Alarm comes with its own 4G connection, operating over the Telstra network. If signal strength is limited in your area, our dedicated support team can work with you to find a solution that meets your client's needs.

My client has a profound hearing impairment. Will Umps work for them?

Yes, we have special response protocols to support people with hearing impairments and profound hearing loss.

Both the Umps Link Hub and Pendant light up when an alert is triggered, providing visual indications of an alert activation. The Hub lights will continue to pulse while a call is connected.

We can work with you to create a unique alert protocol to suit your client. This may include text message prompts, calling nearby emergency contacts, or escalating directly to emergency services.

My client still has questions. Can they speak to someone?

Of course. Please contact us on 1300 907 272, and we can arrange to call your client to answer their questions.
