Supporting thousands of older Australians continue to live life their way.
I’m Adam, one of the founders and CEO of Umps. Today, Umps supports thousands of older adults in every state and territory around the country. But it didn't start there - it started with an idea to support my grandpa.
In 2017, he was hospitalised after a fall. Thankfully, there were no major injuries, but when he returned home we were told that he should consider moving into permanent aged care.
At 90 years old, my grandpa was determined to stay in the home he'd lived in for over 60 years. And we were just as determined to help him do so.
We soon discovered that existing personal alarms weren't suitable for him. They were bulky, heavy, and made him feel vulnerable. This drove us to create something better. We wanted a solution that would work for him and for other older adults who value their independence.
We call my grandpa "Umps". Our products are inspired by him, and by naming our company after him we pay tribute to those that we aim to serve.
Our Purpose
Umps exists to catalyse the shift to proactive care, adding 1 million years of healthy living at home by 2030.
Today, caring for older adults is reactive, with health interventions taking place after symptoms become serious. With thoughtful technology, Umps empowers older adults, their family and clinicians with data to enable more proactive care and keep people healthier at home for longer.
